I-70 THINGS SUMMER EVENTS ROUNDUP
Your Colorado Summer Starts Here ☀️🏔️
Colorado’s finally thawing out, I-70 traffic is somehow already cooked again, and the summer event lineup is looking stacked. Whether you’re chasing live music, mountain-town chaos, outdoor films, giant Red Bull contraptions, or just an excuse to escape Denver for the weekend, here’s your official I-70 Things guide to some of the biggest events happening around Colorado this summer.
🌲 Outside DAYS
Denver, Colorado | May 29–31
Outside Days is basically what happens when outdoor culture, music festival energy, wellness, adventure films, and Colorado’s entire LinkedIn network all merge into one giant weekend downtown.
Hosted on the Auraria Campus in Denver, this event mixes:
-
Live music
-
Adventure films
-
Outdoor brands
-
Wellness experiences
-
Athlete panels
-
Gear demos
-
Community events
It’s part outdoor industry summit, part music festival, part “I accidentally spent $400 at a brand activation.”
Why We’re Into It:
Outside Fest feels like the future of outdoor culture in Colorado. You’ll meet climbers, skiers, runners, creators, founders, photographers, van-lifers, and people who definitely own at least one Arc’teryx shell.
And yes — we’ll be there too!
🎥 GoPro Mountain Games
Vail, Colorado | June 4–7
If Colorado had an Olympics for mountain people, this would be it.
The GoPro Mountain Games takes over Vail every summer with four straight days of climbing, trail running, biking, slacklining, DockDogs, live music, and enough energy to make the entire town feel like it's running at altitude.
This is one of those events where you can watch world-class athletes compete at the highest level, then turn around and catch an incredible DockDogs competition a few minutes later.
What to Expect:
• 35+ competitions across mountain sports
• Free daytime concerts and ticketed evening shows (see the music lineup)
• Outdoor vendors + gear demos
• Olympic-level speed climbing and bouldering competitions
• Massive athlete presence
• Dog events that honestly steal the show
• Connect with some of the world's top creators on the CoLab Stage
• Peak Colorado summer vibes
Want to compete? Registration is still open at mountaingames.com.
If you've never been, put this one high on the list.
🎶 Snowmass Rendezvous
Snowmass Village, Colorado | June 27th
Snowmass Rendezvous is one of the more underrated mountain festivals in Colorado.
Think:
-
Live music in the mountains
-
Après energy without ski boots
-
Good food
-
Summer mountain views
-
Outdoor hangs with your friends
It’s the type of weekend where you accidentally stay up way too late, wake up slightly dehydrated at altitude, grab a breakfast burrito, and immediately convince yourself you’re moving to the mountains permanently.
Perfect For:
-
Weekend mountain escape
-
Couples trips
-
Group hangs
-
Summer après lovers
-
People who “just wanted one drink”
🛞 Red Bull Soapbox Race
Denver, Colorado | Summer 2026
This might be the most unhinged event on the list.
The Red Bull Soapbox Race is returning to Denver, which means teams of sleep-deprived engineers and chaotic friend groups will once again launch homemade wheeled death machines down a giant hill in front of thousands of people.
And honestly? We support it.
Expect:
-
Ridiculous costumes
-
Carts that absolutely should not pass inspection
-
Controlled chaos
-
Big crowds
-
The occasional spectacular wipeout
-
Peak people-watching
If you enjoy engineering mixed with complete nonsense, this is your Super Bowl.
🚗 Final Thoughts
Colorado summers are undefeated.
Between mountain festivals, outdoor competitions, live music, and chaotic road trips up I-70, there’s no shortage of reasons to load up the car, overpack your cooler, and pretend traffic isn’t going to add two extra hours to your drive.
We’ll see you out there somewhere between Morrison and Vail, sitting behind a camper van doing 42 mph in the left lane.
Stay safe. Leave early. Bring snacks.
